2012 is a great year for Nigerian artiste, Davido as he emerged the Best Male Newcomer at the 2012 Kora Awards that held last night in Abidjan. 2010 Project Fame West Africa Winner, Chidinma also won at the awards, leaving with the award for 2012 Best Female West African Act. The Kora Awards, dubbed “Africa’s Grammys”, took place Sunday in Abidjan. There were earlier confusions about when the event would happen and when its star — US rapper Chris Brown — would arrive in Ivory Coast. But Kora spokesman Ernest Adjovi said late Saturday, “Everything will take place Sunday”.

The award extravaganza, which originated in South Africa in 1994, was originally to have been held Saturday in Ivory Coast’s economic capital.
At the last minute, organisers claimed Brown had missed his flight and the show would be delayed until Monday.
But a source close to the ceremony said Brown “is not the real reason” the event was delayed, and blamed the postponement on organisational issues.

Rihanna’s love for Chris Brown is obviously getting stronger; she followed him to Abidjan for the Kora awards. We just hope Breezy makes her feel the way she wants; ‘like the only girl in the world’.
Also present at the award is Nigeria’s pop duo, P Square.

Witnesses said the explosion went off around 9.30a.m as the city marked Boxing Day amid a lull in business activities.
Injured persons have been rushed to the hospital with serious burns even as firefighters and rescue agencies swiftly deployed on the scene and battled the raging inferno.

36-Year-Old Virgin Reveals The Secrets To Practicing Abstinence

36-Year-Old Virgin Reveals The Secrets To Practicing Abstinence

Forty-three-year-old Lakita Garth was a 36-year-old virgin in 2005 when she kissed her boyfriend-turned-husband for the first time. Garth has gone public about her 36 years of virginity and is now helping other women around the world learn how to refrain from s*x prior to marriage.
virginity
Excerpts from her interview are below:

On Her Family’s Influence on Her Choice:
In my family, if you had s*x outside of marriage, someone got married, or someone got shot! I come from a line of Christians that believe your faith must impact the culture. It has to go farther than your personal relationship with Christ.
On Choosing a Mate that Is Not Into the Church:
You can’t be the key to his spiritual maturity.
Her Advice to Singles:
To be single was to be undistracted in my devotion to God. Keep your options open. God’s perfect mate for you may not look or sound like your ‘fantasy mate’.
One commenter with the user name “Chris” did not agree with Garth’s advice. He responded to her interview saying:
“The Bible does not make any of the claims that this article makes about s*xual purity before marriage.
The abstinence model of Christianity is an inherited tradition and not a hard and fast line which the Bible draws. “Don’t have s*x before marriage!” they say. Why?
The Bible says we should abstain from “s*xual immorality.” What is s*xual immorality? “s*x before marriage,” they say. Says who? It is a tradition, not an inviolable maxim — a tradition which made sense in earlier cultures where everyone married and they did so at a young age.
s*x before marriage is certainly a risky venture, but articles like these unnecessarily shame devoted lovers who have not yet overcome the logistical hurdles of holding a wedding.
In all honesty, the girl in this article sounds totally self-absorbed/self-righteous, some of the most disgusting traits for a Christian to have.
can any Nigeria lady of that age be boastful of been a virgin?

Suicide Bomber Strikes Kano Airtel Office

Reports say that a suicide bomber, Saturday, attacked telecom service provider, Airtel’s office in Kano.

The office is located within the Business District, opposite Malam Kato Square in the metropolis.
It is not immediately clear how the bomber gained entry into the heavily fortified Airtel headquarters that has been under the protection of combat-ready JTF officials.
Thought casualty figure is sketchy, but report says the multi-million naira headquarters is still in flames.
Efforts made to reach the JTF spokesman, Captain Ikediche Iweha, were unsuccessful as he did not respond to calls to his phone.

Nkiru Sylvanus' family paid N8 million to kidnappers for her release

The police in Owerri, the Imo state capital told reporters during a press briefing yesterday that Nkiru Sylvanus' family paid N8 million to the kidnappers before she was released on Thursday night.

The Commissioner of Police, Adisa Bolanta, said the family did this without the knowledge of the police. He said they had warned the family not to negotiate or deal directly with the kidnappers but they defied their orders
"They defied our warnings and continued negotiations with the kidnappers. They went behind us and paid N8 million to them. We have made some arrests in connection with the case and very soon they will all be apprehended." He said

PASTOR CAUGHT IN THE ACT.

A randy clergyman is nursing injuries at a hospital after he was badly injured by an angry husband who caught him red handed sleeping with his wife in his bedroom.

The two had returned from evening service when the woman, who is the youth leader in the church, invited the pastor to her house for a cup of tea. The ‘cup of tea’ extended into the late hours of the night and since the husband is not at home but works in a nearby town, the married pastor was tempted to spend the night.

Unknown to the love birds, however, word had already reached the husband that his home in Kakamega had been turned into a ‘brothel’.

The husband rushed home that night, raging with fury and ready to devour whomever he found in his house. He arrived at around 11pm and noted that the front door was locked. Luckily, he had spare keys for the back door.

As he was getting into the house, the two sensed danger and the preacher ran out through the front door and sprinted to his house, which is in the neighbourhood, half naked. The angry man did not give up. He chased the pastor into his house and fished him out with the help of others who had had been attracted by the commotion.

“When we caught him, he couldn’t say anything in his defense as even his wife was still crying at the mistreatment and shame he had exposed her to,” said an eyewitness.

The pastor, a father of two, for obvious reasons, remained mum when he was asked what he was doing in another man’s bed in the odd hours of the night. His silence enraged the man and others into beating him with kicks, bows and sticks.by MVB

NIKIRU SYLVANUS &KENNETH KIDNAP ....LEASTEST

Nkiru Sylvanus & Kenneth Okolie's kidnap: open letter to IG of police

An open letter to the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar, from friends and colleagues of actors Nkiru Sylvanus and Kenneth Okolie
Dear Sir,
Nollywood Actors' Kidnap: Please bring our colleagues back home for Christmas
We write to formally inform your esteemed office of the kidnap, last Sunday, December 16th, of two of our colleagues, enterprising entertainers, Nkiru Sylvanus and Kenneth Okolie. The two actors were in Owerri, Imo State, shooting a movie when they were forcefully abducted by masked gunmen. Some hours later, the mindless abductors contacted family and friends of Ms Sylvanus especially demanding a N100m ransom. Up till now, we cannot fathom the rationale behind their kidnap. And their abductors have advanced none.
Perplexingly, about five days after this untoward incident, no concerted efforts, as far as we know, are being made to rescue these hardworking and patriotic Nigerians who sweat and toil to bring joy into millions of homes and hearts across Nigeria and the globe. Indeed, it is sad and heartbreaking.
It is even more worrisome and befuddling considering that these actors’ kidnap is coming just days after the Police, under your distinguished leadership, valiantly and commendably went all out for the kidnapped 82-year-old mother of the coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister for Finance, Dr (Mrs.) Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. The result, as we all know, is that Prof Kimene Okonjo was returned home hale and hearty, thanks to the Police, your Police. Are Sylvanus and Okolie lesser citizens? Are they no longer Nigerians who you should be bothered about their safety and wellbeing? Don’t they deserve the kind of police attention that Professor Okonjo got? Does kidnap have another name? Or, has Nigeria been reduced to George Orwell’s Animal Farm where some animals are more equal than others?
We, the Friends of Sylvanus and Okolie, do not think so. We just believe that you probably are swamped with protecting the lives and property of Nigerians during this yuletide season or you are not aware how important they also are as law abiding citizens of this great country.
Sir, Ms Sylvanus is one of the more popularand proficient role interpreters in Nollywood (Nigeria’s globally acclaimed movie industry) with a catalogue of seminal movies that have shored up our rating as a filmmaking nationin the last 15years.Worthy of mention is that it is because of actors like Sylvanus that the Nigerian movie industry has achieved so much reverenceand renown globally. Apart from her acting career, she is also a notable philanthropist who donates as much as she earns to motherless babies and widows.
Mr. Okolie, on the other hand, won the Mr. Nigeria contest in 2010 and went on to represent Nigeria at the Mr. World contest where he was second runner up. In his own way, he has flown the flag of Nigeria in pride on global stages. He is also an actor and singer and model. He is willing to do more to further make Nigeria proud but he can’t do anything in captivity.
It is in the light of our apparent helplessness that we decided to write you this letter to please deploy the same audacious expertise and refined gallantry that have become the hallmark of the Nigeria Police under your watch to bring our colleagues home to their families and fans. Of course, you know sir, that these young Nigerians cannot afford anything near the ransom being demanded and we are scared that if something is not done fast, we fear the worst for Sylvanus and Okolie. That is why we are counting on you sir.
As we earnestly await their return, we hope that you would please, use your office to evolve a winning and redoubtable strategy to protect the Nollywood community from the increasing incidence of abduction as we have not forgotten so soon that veteran screen idols Nkem Owoh and Pete Edochie have traveled that tortuous and unpleasant road before.
We wish to continue entertaining Nigerians and doing Nigeria proud with our art but we cannot do so under an atmosphere of pervasive insecurity and vulnerability.
Please, help us and accept the assurances of our profound regards and promise to continue to be Proudly Nigeria.
God bless you.
God bless the Nigeria Police
God bless Nigeria
