Navy Helicopter Crash: Investigations Begin; Bayelsa Declares 3-Day Mourning

images The Nigerian Navy has disclosed that investigations into the cause of the navy helicopter crash which claimed the lives of former Kaduna State governor, Patrick Yakowa and former National Security Adviser, General Andrew Owoye Azazi has commenced. They also announced the recovery and depositing of the bodies of the victims at the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. According to a statement signed by the Director of Naval Information, Commodore Kabiru Aliyu, the site has been duly secured to allow for detailed investigation while a report of what happened would be made available as soon as possible. Meanwhile Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State declared a three-day mourning in the state and directed that flags should fly at half mast in honour of the crashed victims. He also cancelled all the state government engagements.
